House of Double-Roof

Built in a region with heavy snowfall, this second case study house sought to avoid increasing the member sizes of the roof framing, which is why this double-roof was proposed to separate the roof and ceiling. The upper roof covering the entire building was made from the minimum sized corrugated metal sheet roofing that was acceptable to meet the required snow load capacity of the region, and each other room had individual ceiling and roof frames. In other words, the ceiling is not hung from the corrugated sheet roof, so even if the allowable deflection of the sheet roof is exceeded, it does not affect the ceiling and the live load factor of each roof is actually close to zero.
