Haesley Halfway House

Back

“Haesley Halfway House” is a refreshment venue within the golf course of Haesley Nine Bridges. It has a simple square plan, with the second floor rotated by 45 degrees in order to reduce the overall volume. The two white slabs are positioned to preserve the existing pine trees, and when viewed from the outside, they appear to blend into the landscape if the glass sliding doors are opened. In Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona Pavilion, the stone walls were designed as non-structural elements, but in this case, they are strategically placed to articulate the space as well as bear vertical and lateral loads.
