This temporary pavilion was the main event space for the popular biennale situated within the large open park at the West Kowloon Cultural District. The 18 meter long vault structure spanned 30 meters as a paper tube truss arch with steel joints. 336mm diameter paper tubes were used in the main arch and 243mm diameter paper tubes for struts while steel rods were used to brace the truss. The foundations were 4 standard size 20 feet long shipping containers filled with sand and the roof covering material was translucent corrugated polycarbonate panels. The arch faced out towards Victoria Harbour to frame the extraordinary skyline of Hong Kong.
