For performances of both Japanese and Chinese traditional drama at the Kabuki-Za Theatre, paper tube stage sets were designed for the acts, intermission, and final scene. By using a turntable, lighting, and curtains, and by slightly changing the position of the paper tubes, various sceneries were created.
