The paper tube bridge was constructed next to Pont du Gard, the Roman aqueduct in Nîmes France, which is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Considering structural effectiveness and the site situation, an arched shape structure was utilized. Stones of the aqueduct represent historical weight and strength, while paper tubes represent lightness, temporality and perceived weakness, giving a contrast in materiality. Harmony was accomplished through using the same arch radius as Pont du Gard. The paper tubes used in this project had a diameter of 115mm and the steel joints had a thickness of 19mm, with steel joints and cables used in post-tension structural forms.
