Monaco Cable Car Mid Station

Back

In order to ease traffic congestion within the city of Monaco, a cable car system has been planned, linking a new carpark at the Botanical Gardens, a new shopping mall in the city center and finally the Royal Palace, which is Monaco’s main sightseeing attraction. This project is for the design of Monaco Mid., a cable car station serving the city center. The Royal Palace, which is the residence of Prince Albert II, will have a view of the roof of the city center station, due to its elevated position at Le Rocher. The form of the station’s roof has taken its inspiration from the shape of a rose, which was the late Princess Grace Kelly’s favorite flower. The roof’s wooden frame is to be covered with an ETFE film. This project, the result of a competition, is currently under approval by the relevant authorities.
