To allow guests to fully enjoy the mountain streams flowing on both sides of the site, 14 wooden villas (15 rooms in total), each 60m2 in size, have been arranged to follow the natural contours of the land. The gently sloping terrain is reflected in the skip-floor interior layout of each villa. A large 5.4m-wide opening connects the indoor and outdoor spaces without interruption. This was achieved by eliminating the need for large beams through the use of a truss system: 12m-long inclined rafters, spaced at 450mm intervals, act as posts and are sandwiched between wooden top and bottom chords with diagonal bracing. The bathrooms open on two sides, creating a semi-outdoor experience. For the exterior walls, stones excavated during the site’s grading work were repurposed and integrated into the design.
