“Wall-less House” sits on a sloped site with the floor slab at the rear of the mountain side, curving up to the roof to also naturally become a retaining wall that transfers all the earth pressure into the floor slab. Furthermore, the horizontal roof’s mountain side edge is rigidly fixed so that all lateral loads from the roof are transferred through the floor slab. Along the front facade are three identical columns that only bear the vertical loads of the roof. The different functions of the house are placed without enclosure on a universal floor, further emphasizing the structural system, and can be partitioned off by sliding walls. Not only does this articulate the form, but it also completely articulates the structural system.
