Along the Copacabana beach the city creates a massive wall that divides the nature from the city of Rio de Janeiro. The intention is to break the wall by inserting a museum with a soft and rounded shape which represents the curves of the female form. The outer shell of the museum consists of a wooden grid-shell structure with double glazed low-e glass. The CO2 emissions during the entire construction period of the wood structure is one fourth the amount compared to a steel structure. The ground floor is enclosed with glass shutters that can be opened up to connect the lobby and the temporary exhibition space to the lively street.
