The site is a typical residential area and this house was designed to experience the seasonal changes and the passage of time in a day through the changes of light and shadow. Standard larch LVL (38 mm x 184 mm) is overlapped in a continuous rectangular shape creating transparency. Each overlapping corner is a rigid connection reducing the lateral forces on each rectangular frame, so although material cross-section is small, an open moment frame structure was conceived without the use of metal joints.
