The site is divided lengthwise into two elongated halves, with the southern half as exterior space and the northern half as interior. An ivy screen that blocks views from neighboring houses is affixed to the gate-shaped steel frames, which are like flying buttresses supporting the second floor of the northern block. This creates a column-free ground floor as a shared space with strong continuity to the exterior, while also resisting lateral forces along the building’s longitudinal direction. Shading screens along the exterior beams can be closed to transform the garden into a semi-outdoor space.
