Hanegi Forest

Back

This is an apartment complex composed in a row-house format of individual three-story units. To realize the given condition of not uprooting a single tree, a geometry that would remain structurally stable without foundations beams was found in the form of an equilateral triangular grid of 4m sides. In order to keep the feel of walking through a forest, the first floor piloti space ceiling height was set at 3m. Furthermore, the number of units were kept to a minimum and mirrors as well as one-way mirrors were used to disguise the existence of the entrances, and to multiply the images of the trees in the forest.
