The rectangular volume of the Glass Shutter House matches the heights of the neighboring buildings yet occupies only half of its site. The other half is used as courtyard, which is open to the street and becomes a semi-public space. The public facade facing the street and the semi-public facade facing the courtyard are both made of full-height glass shutters which can be fully opened, extending the inside to the semi-private courtyard.
