The theme for the 2000 Hannover Expo was sustainability, so a completely recyclable pavilion was designed. The pavilion took the form of a three-dimensionally curved, grid-shell tunnel arch composed of paper tubes connected together by fabric tape and reinforced by wooden ladder arches. This frame was covered by a membrane of fire resistant paper.
