In commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Dotonbori River excavation,Taichi Sakaiya planned a project to create a resort in the city of Minami, re-envisioning Dotonbori as an 800m log swimming pool. Screens are provided along the 8m wide Tonbori River Walk to block sidelines from the surroundings, also allowing to project movies. With palm tree-like lighting and sound facilities on the poolside, various spatial effects can be produced. The palm leaves are made from solar panels as a source of renewable energy.
