More than just a train station, Tazawako Station also offers various public facilities. The openness and transparency of the building creates a sense of invitation while providing unobstructed visibility through the structure. Train passengers can see through the station to the city, and reversely, the public can see the passing trains and beyond to the mountain backdrop. Due to time and budgetary limitations, the innovative use of pre-cast concrete piles were applied for the structure.
