Paper Sanctuary Tokyo

A simple partition system, created by Shigeru Ban, is completed by draping fabric over frames made from paper tubes. This “Paper Partition System (PPS)” was devised by Ban to ensure privacy for people living in evacuation centers during disasters. For this exhibition, the PPS is presented as a canvas, showcasing the work of Ukrainian poet Svetlana Lavochkina and photographer Vincent Hayes, based in Berlin. Their work is displayed alongside the music of Valentin Silvestrov, a Ukrainian composer living in Berlin as a war refugee.
