“Kur Park Nagayu” is a wellness retreat comprising a Kurhaus, Kur Restaurant, and Kur Hotel. The Kurhaus consists of hot spring facility with a split-level double height space, topped with a large roof structure composed of interdependently connected 1.8m-logs, and a 50m long walk-in hot-spring zone. There is a traditional nude hot-spring zone, and another allowing swimwear, which can be enjoyed by men and women. The walking hot spring along the Serikawa River is surrounded by seasonal landscaping, allowing visitors to promote their health while enjoying the hot springs in nature. The Kur Restaurant is composed of paper tubes and wood. The Kur Hotel adopts a construction method that uses a series of PHP panels – honeycomb panels sandwiched between sheets of Japanese cypress plywood. The spaces between the frames are used effectively for beds, desks, and storage.
