The Arbour is a 10-story hybrid mass timber academic building housing classrooms, lecture halls, and a Tall Wood Research Institute. Despite its curvilinear form, the building is efficient and cost effective, with uniform spans and member sizes. The design features an open atrium with a gently sloping stair and lounge landings, encouraging students to congregate and collaborate within the building. The Arbour was designed to be the most energy efficient building in North America, utilizing a breathing double-skin façade and ductless ventilation system which exhausts to a solar chimney integrated atrium.
